This is our class of happy and enthusiastic year one children. We follow a varied and stimulating curriculum and enjoy a wide range of activities.
We have been very busy in Ash Class. The children have settled in very well and we still have lots to do and learn, but here is just a few things we have done so far.
In literacy we have been looking at the story of ‘Not a Stick’. We sequenced the story and added labels to our pictures. The children then found their own sticks and used their imaginations to come up with what their ‘not a stick’ could be. We made our own labels and had lots of fun creating some role play. We had toothbrushes, magic wand, adventure trails, fairy catchers and lots more. Who knew there were so many things a stick could be!
In geography we have been studying Aspley Guise as our local area and comparing it with other places Barnaby bear has been to. The children all wrote postcards to Barnaby telling him about Aspley Guise and what he could do here if he came to visit.
In science we have been looking at the seasons and making observations of the weather, we have created our very own weather chart.
Smartie the penguin has been helping us learn how to stay safe online and when using the computers and other devices. We learnt his song and created posters to inform everyone how to stay safe.
We have particularly enjoyed art, learning about our primary and secondary colours. The children really enjoyed mixing paint to create colour wheels showing the primary and secondary colours.
